The Maltese Mizpah Pendants
|
Mizpah is a Hebrew word meaning: "wherever you are, may good fortune be with you". These pendants have, for ages, commemorated the agreement between Laban and Jacob as told in Genesis 31:49. Today, the Mizpah is presented as a coin split in two. Friends and loved ones each wear half as a token of friendship. The quote reads: "The Lord watch between me and thee while we are absent one from another" within interlocking hearts. Also known as a breakable gold heart, this pendant is in two parts, one for "me" and the other for "thee". Mizpah is an emotional bond between people who are separated (either physically or by death). Mizpah jewelry is worn to signify this bond, and to keep your loved one safe. |
